Thanks for all the fish

Partly because it’s towel day. And partly for another reason. You’ll see soon. :)

I’ve left me Bassetless

I’m having trouble typing this post entry because I’m singing Lady Gaga’s “Speechless” at the same time.

I’m also having trouble drawing Marvin because of not having drawn any basset hounds for a week.

So I’ve just done a few more as a sort of “warm up” to doing the next page… Uhm… looking at the clock I’m really hoping I won’t have to pull an all-nighter to finish it… uh oh.

Even more basset hounds

If you’re looking for Page 2 of my webcomic, please scroll down. :)

More Basset Hounds

All these basset hound sketches might give you a clue to the next page of my webcomic. ;) The cats though… they’re just incidental. I made a commitment to draw 100 cats and just doing my best to follow through. With lots of sighs and groans… cuz 100 is SUCH a big number…

10 more cats

Cats, Digital Sketches

I really don’t like that I can’t do this in pencil as well… :(

But augh! this took so long! Must do hundreds more so I can speed up!!

Basset Hound Sketches

I love dogs!!! Especially hounds. :D

Basset Hound Sketches

In other news, I’ve had to change the theme of my blog, mainly because I wanted a theme that would allow me to have wider images – because of my comic. Some of the text in the next page is too tiny to read at 400 pixels wide… an extra 200 pixels is making a hell of a difference.

Can’t wait to publish it! :3 It’s all done and dusted and read by my friend, Zay who is now my spellchecker. I will have to somehow introduce her in the comic some time in the future … cuz I think she’d be a fun character to have in a comic. ;)

Will be back to post it on Friday! See you then!

6 of 10 Cats

So I’m on another new mission… I’m trying to draw 100 cats using traditional media and have done 10 so far. Not all of them are great drawings, ones I’m posting here are only the ones I thought I’d bother scanning.

Admittedly I’m not very great with pencil or traditional materials. I never learned properly – I pretty much jumped straight into digital. So one of the outcomes I’m hoping to achieve is to get better with pencil drawing and rendering… and learning some new spiffy techniques!

Cats… why cats? I’m actually more of a dog person to be honest. But about 4 years ago I found myself in a discount book store buying a 7KG book of cats (amongst other reference books). It’s an impressive collection of cat images, awesome reference. I’ll have to find a dog book equivalent. Swear to jeebus I’ll go nuts. You just watch.

So I’ve been freelancing at Animal Logic for the last… roughly 2 months (the exciting news I was alluding to in my previous post) and I have to say, I’ve enjoyed every moment of it… and only regret that it ends in 4 days time! (well, my part on this current project I’m working on is wrapping up).

Not to worry, I’m pencilled in to return on a new project end of January, which is good timing because I do have to work on 2 upcoming workshops in January (Haberfield and Camden) and I wanted to start taking life drawing classes too.

I’m really looking forward to coming back and learning more from the artists there!
